Weight Watchers Daily Point Quiz
The first step to a healthier you when doing Weight Watchers is to calculate how many points you are allowed each day. To find your daily point allowance simply take the short quiz below and calculate your totals. Remember that 18 is the least amount of points allowed in a day and 44 is the most. If you are new to Weight Watchers and are not sure how the program works, you can find an article here that explains the basics of how to do it.
Please note: This quiz is for the old POINTS plan (prior to December 2010). The new PointsPlus plan makes it a little more difficult to calculate your daily PointsPlus Target. At this time, to calculate your target you basically have 3 options – they will give it to you at your meeting, get it online using E-Tools or purchase a new PointsPlus Calculatorand enter your information.
Here is the old POINTS quiz: (Prior to December 2010)
1. Sex:
Female — 2pts
Male — 8pts
2. Age:
17-26 — 4pts
27-37 — 3pts
38-47 –2pts
48-58 — 1pt
Over 58 — 0pt
3. First two 2 digits of your current weight:
(Example: Weight 165 = 16pt or Weight 230 = 23pt)
4. Height
Under 5’1″: 0pts
5’1″ to 5’10”: 1pt
5’10” and over: 2pts
5. Daily Activity Levels:
Sitting: 0pts
Some Sitting, Mostly Standing: 2pts
Walking most of the time: 4pts
Doing physically hard work most of the time: 6pts
6. Nursing Mom?
Solely Nursing: 10 pts
Supplementing with solid food or formula: 5 pts
Keep in mind that as you lose weight you will also start to lose points. Whenever the 2nd digit of your weight changes so does your daily point allowance. For example, if you weighed 170 pounds one week and then 168 pounds the next week, the second digit changed from a 7 to a 6 so you lose 1 point from your daily total. This is to insure that the weight loss continues until you reach your goal weight.
In addition to your daily points you are also allowed 35 bonus points each week. It is recommended that you use these points for special occaisions such as a holiday dinner, birthday celebration, or other event. It is NOT recommended to divide the 35 points up among the days of the week giving yourself 5 extra points each day. Remember, the goal here is to lose weight.
thanks hun, i get i sub. until i stop losing. then adjust to not gain…. thanks hun. tell jen hi from dollieanna from louisiana

Thanks for visiting!!
hello everyone

Welcome carla and best wishes!
Weigh day week 13: -4lbs
Weight loss to date: 32lbs
Back on track and loving it! Hope everything is going well for you and your family Dan, and all your readers as well. Good job everybody! We CAN do it!
Holy cow, KittKatt!!! You are ROCKIN IT! Keep up the great work and congrats on your success to this point! Are you close to your goal yet?
Not even close to being close. Started out at 308 back in October, now at 276. Shooting for around 160. the charts say my ideal weight for my height(5’6″) is 120. Ummmmmm, yeah I don’t think so. I have a girlfriend thats right around my height thats 135 and she looks too skinny and somewhat unhealthy in my opinion. I was 165 in college and while I hated it then I now realize looking back at pictures that I was smoking hot at that weight.
BTW, I wanted to keep y’all updated on my training for the half marathon I want to do this year. Since starting my running program, I’m up to running 4 (11 minute) miles before having to take a walking break.Thirteen miles by the end of the years is starting to look achievable to me now. The friend I have working with me told me not to worry about running the whole thing, but I really feel the need to run it. You see, I’m okay while running, but once I slow down to a walk I’m having a HARD time getting going again lol.
Also, It seems that the majority of weight I’ve lost has come from my thighs. They are wrinkley and saggy where before they were round and smooth. Yes they were alot bigger, but they looked better. I hate that even though I’m losing, I feel like I look worse(I know it’s in my head and I need to get over it, but I just needed to rant for a minute). If anyone out there knows of some firming cream or target training that helps with tightening up loose skin feel free to share.
ANYWAY, sorry for rambling. Hope everyone is doing well, and I’ll check back in on Sunday(weigh day). Love, love, LOVE this website, and thanks for the info, cheers, and pep talks.
hello!!! my name is maria and I am 18 years old. actually my birthday is on tuesday so right now i’m 17. i decided to start weight watchers online because all my family and really close friedns say i should do sth abt my weight. i currently weigh 240 pounds. i do want to do sth , i just need a little motivation. i was googling weight watchers and found your site. WOW!! you truly support each other. i hope it’s ok if i can tlk abt my weight droping journey just so that i have someone to tlk to. this site seems to amazing!!!
Hi Maria! Welcome! The people on this site are really supportive….you found the right place. Good luck on your journey. I know being heavy as a teen is really hard. I was there, I know. I know you’ll be able to do it! Hell, we all can. I personally love hearing about other people’s success because it helps motivate me. And I still have a long way to go. We can all succeed and then strut around in our skinny jeans lol.
KittKatt – you ROCK! I had no idea you were training for a marathon this year, that’s very admirable. You’re already kicking my butt on the weight loss and with the running (I have absolutely no endurance π ). My wife (Jen) keeps saying that she’s interested in doing a marathon but we never do anything about it. We have signed up for a cardio kickboxing class that starts this week. That should be fun π
Maria – Welcome aboard and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! There are a few of us on the forum that are posting our weigh in results and trying to keep each other motivated. You (and everyone else) are more than welcome to join us if you’d like (you to, KittKatt!).
I’m glad you found us and wish you great success!!
Dan,
Thank you for a great site. My co-worker and I have done low carb for a while now with good results. Lately we were trying to figure out how to get a bit of variety into our diet and found your page. The information on the page is great. It turned us to WW. Thank you.
I also wanted to mention that I found a site, which has a large listing of restaurnts
http://www.wikiweightwatcher.com
Also I wanted to ask if you are planning to add ToGo’s to your list.
One more question – did you consider a mobile version of your web page? I bookmarked it on my phone, but it is not easy to navigate.
Thank you again for your great work and encouragement you provide to everyone.
Weigh day week 14: -1lb
Total to date: -33lbs
After this week I’m not gonna complain about any weight lose, even if its only one pound.
Dan, its a half marathon this year (26.something miles is just a little much for me in 2011), but I do want to do a whole one in 2012.
Oh, and Dan, I did check out the forum, but nobody else weighs or posts in the Sunday one. I wasn’t sure if could post in the other days even though I weigh on Sunday.
This is the best website! I just started back on the old plan and your website will really help. Thank you!
Hi Marina, thank for the compliment and for the link.
I’ve never heard of ToGo’s before but found their nutrition info so I will definitely add them to the list.
I’m still kind of new at setting up a website and have taught myself how to do things as I go along. The whole ‘mobile’ thing is beyond me…lol, I just have a pay as you go phone with no internet or anything. At this point I wouldn’t even know where to start to make the site mobile friendly. Sorry π
Great job as usual, KittKatt!
If you want to join us on the forum I would go ahead and post your Sunday results in the Wednesday section. That’s where all of the action is (I started posting in Wednesdays, too).
There are so few of us at this time that it is easier for everyone to post on the same day so we don’t have to keep jumping all over the forums. No need to change you actual weigh in day…
Thanks Leslie and best wishes to ya π
thanks kitkatt and dan!!! so i was really busy this week and wasnt able to post anything Lol!! but i am very happy because i went to the gym 4 TIMES!!! i started going to curves and now i am also on a healthy eating plan. i wanted to ask if anyone has heard of zumba classes bc at curves they are starting these classes and my instructor aksed me if i wanted to go but idk what it is π plus i started gym at school and have been working out everyday!!! i’m so excited!!!! π
Weigh day week 15:
Didn’t lose anything this week but didn’t gain anything either so that’s good. Still hanging in at -33lbs. I will admit to the fact that I cheated on my food almost everyday this week, and participated I some pretty heavy drinking as well. ( hey I had friends in town, we were reliving our youth lol). Also I weighed while completely dressed(including shoes) and AFTER having huge meal at Red Lobster. I know, no excuses. However, I know that this means I probably did lose something this week and I’m looking forward to a great number next week. π
@Maria- Zumba is cardio consisting of mostly dance moves. I think its super fun, but I’ve always loved to dance. I say give it a try if you like dancing. Remember, a lot of dance moves include using your core muscles so it would be a fun way to burn calories while losing inches around your waist which is always a plus.
I’m still having trouble coming to terms with the sagging skin on the inside of my thighs. I read on the internet to rub down with a firming lotion like nivea or palmers and then wrap in saran wrap for a couple of hours. Will give it a try and give my opinion on it in a couple of weeks.
Good luck to everyone on their weight lose journey!
Maria, my wife (who has no rhythm π ) has done Zumba once a week for like 2 years now and loves it. She says it is exactly how KittKatt described it. Lots of fun and exercise all rolled into one. She said it’s more fun if you have a friend sign up with you.
KittKatt, don’t think of it as cheating, that’s what the 35 weekly bonus points are for. You are allowed to treat yourself once in awhile, just remember what your ultimate goal is.
I wish I knew of some lotion or something that could help you out. It sucks that these types of hurdles have to pop up while you are making such great progress towards your goals. I found this article on eHow that has a few suggestions that would be easy to try.
I have been on the old Momentum Program and have reached my weight goal. I need to know how many points I can have to maintain my current weight.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks.
Manny
Hey Manny, here is how to get your points allowance for maintaining your weight (it involves some trial and error).
Add 4 points to your current daily allowance and use that number for one week. At the end of one week if you continued to lose weight add 4 more points, if you gained weight subtract one point, and then use that new number for another week. You continue doing this until you find the number that is right for you. Hope this makes sense for ya
My back injury has proven stable which means no surgery.Ive lost ten pounds since mid December i need fifty more by this time in July i think thats 8 a month i love this site. i live with four overweight people who dont care about what they eat and order in every nite or stop for burgers. my diet is mostly pasta spinach fruits carrots and soymilk.
i have this habit that really helps me watch my points, at the beginning of each week i go through my fridge and mark with a sharpy how many pionts a serving is and how many ounces each serving is. this way i can get the most out of my meals and points.
i would love some household tips and tricks
thank you so much fore this site!!!!
oh btw how would i calculate points for 0 items after my five alloted servings
Hi there, Tina B. That’s a great idea with the sharpy. Anything that makes sticking to the plan a little easier improves the odds that people will stick to it. Everyone, feel free to add your tips if you would like to share…
For the 0 point items, I’m not sure what the official method is but I’ve always just bumped it up to 1 point per serving when I go over the 5 servings. Anyone know the official policy?
