I am starting WW on Monday, my points per day are 24 total. How do I know when to change my point intake as I am losing weight? What is the calculations for this? (ie: for every 10 lbs lost take away 1 point?). Thanks! BTW Great website!
Hi Kelley! Basically whenever the second digit of your weight changes you subtract a point. Example: if you weighed 150 one week and then the next week you weighed 149 you would lose one point. Hope that helps and thanks for the kind words.
Hey Dan!
I did my first weigh in this morning since I completed week one. I started at 197 lbs., I now weigh 189 lbs. Wow! This is too easy to be true. I realize the first two weeks will have the biggest loss in terms of inches and pounds, but I am still psyched! Your site has helped me daily, thanks again.
WOW! That’s a great number! I felt that the program was very easy at first, also. The last few weeks I have been struggling to lose the same 1 pound to hit my 10% mark. I keep losing a little, then gaining a little…time to step it up a notch.
PS – Don’t forget to subtract a point from your daily allowance 🙂
I just wanted to say THANK YOU for such an amazing website! I really appreciate all the great tips and the easy to use calculator. Not to mention the list with the foods with only a point or two.
I started back on WW this past week and although tough at first to remember how to do it (and do it right) I am getting there and this website will be a huge help.
Thanks again!
Thanks Amber! It’s comments like that that keep me going. Don’t forget to tell your WW friends about the site and good luck with your goals!
Hi! I just stumbled across this site this morning and think it’s AWESOME! I’m surprised WW lets you keep all this information on here. Other people have to pay for it….
I tried Weight Watchers once before and notice the points for vegetables seem to have changed. I know this sounds like a dumb question, but if the point total is zero, like for carrots as an example, I can eat as much as I want?
Hi Kathy and welcome to the site!
When it comes to 0 point items, WW recommends that you limit yourself to 5 servings per day. The reason is that even though the items are 0 points, they still contain calories and eventually those calories will start to add up. Thanks for visiting and thanks for the kind words about the site.
What is the general rule of thumb when you want to treat yourself to your local restaurant/mom and pop cafe/hole-in-the-wall, and no nutritional value is available? How do you figure out what you can order, how much you can eat, and what the point value would be? For example, there is a local mexican food hole-in-the wall that I use to love to frequent. I am afraid to go there now since I have no idea what to order and I’m afraid I may overeat my points. Help!
Hi Ann, that’s a pretty common problem. I’m not sure how other people handle it but I usually try to find a dish that is similar to one that is available at a restaurant that does have nutrition info available (like On The Border).
If there is nothing similar to what you want, remember to try to make healthy substitutions, ask for sauces, etc on the side, avoid deep fried items and watch your portion sizes. Make it as healthy as you can and then just give it your best guess as to how many points it is. Hope this helps
Thank you so much, yes that helps a great deal! Your website has been a lifesaver on information/common questions and issues not readily available on WW.com Thanks again and keep up the awesome blog!
Thanks, Ann! I’ll try 🙂
I just found out about your website last week, and its wonderful. I cancelled my WW points plus plan membership, since it just was not working for me, and will go back to the old momentum, so using your site is important. Thank you for taking the time to set up all this.
